Learning & Working in the Library

[Translate to English:]
Using the Library

The University Library offers study space for more than 900 people, study room for groups, individual study carrels, WiFi via eduroam as well as printers, copying machines and scanners.

Our study room for groups on the 3rd floor gives students the opportunity to work in groups and not disturb the other students in the reading rooms.
Additionally, students can use our 15 individual study carrels. If you are interested in booking a carrel, please fill out this form and inquire at the Circulation Desk.

We also offer computers with internet access and graphic programmes (on the ground as well as first and second floor). To use these computers, log in with your ID number and password and you can surf the internet for 10 hours per week.

These programmes are installed on the computers:

  • Microsoft Office Standard 2019, Libre Office
  • Acrobat Reader und Acrobat Pro
  • VLC Media Player
  • Adobe Photoshop Elements (first floor and last two rows on ground floor)

To use the lockers on the ground floor, go to the Circulation Desk or Freihandverbuchung and loan a locker key. This locker will then be available to you for one day. A few lockers can be used with 2€ coins instead of a key.
If you need a locker for more than a day: Unifach offers them for one semester.

The library also provides copying machines, scanners (DIN A4 to Din A2) as well as printers. Print cards as well as USB flash drives can be purchased at the Circulation Desk.

The printing services offered by the Gauß-IT center can also be used in the library through one of their printers. Information on how to install the printing software required can be found here. Students of TU Braunschweig have a credit of 15 € per semester.

Microfilms and microfiche
The library offers a microfilm und microfiche scanner which you can use to enlarge microforms. This scanner is located in the so called Sonderleseraum beside the Circulation Desk. Scans can be sent via e-mail oder saved to a USB flash drive.

WiFi and VPN

For members of TU Braunschweig

Members of TU Braunschweig have access to the university's WiFi called eduroam. To set up the WiFi, follow these instructions or contact the Gauß-IT center for any questions.
WiFi access is available throughout the library building and can also be used by members of other universities.

All licensed online resources can be accessed using the eduroam network on the TU campus.

Members of TU Braunschweig also have access to licensed resources from outside the campus. This is possible via a VPN (Virtual Private Network). To install VPN, follow these instructions or contact the Gauß-IT center for any questions.

If you are using a carrel on the third floor, we can also provide you with LAN (an application form for a carrel can be found here).

Extension cables with multiple plugs can be borrowed from the so called Freihandverbuchung on the ground floor when required.

For external visitors

If you do not have access to eduroam, you can get a guest ticket at the lending desk. This is valid for the whole week and requires a valid user account with us.
