Microbiologist Rebekka Biedendieck has been working as a research group leader at the Institute of Microbiology since 2013. A main focus of her work is the establishment and systematic optimisation of various Gram-positive Bacillaceae as alternative production and secretion hosts for recombinant proteins. In parallel, she uses classical expression systems such as Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis for the recombinant production, purification and characterisation of various milk proteins and variants thereof in order to investigate process parameters and generate usable products.
Biochemist Meina Neumann-Schaal has been working at the Leibniz Institute DSMZ in Braunschweig since 2017 and has headed the cross-sectional department Metabolomics & Services there since 2020. The department's research focuses on a broad spectrum – from fundamental metabolic processes to host-pathogen interactions and infection mechanisms to biotechnological applications.
