Recovery of valuable materials using thin-film evaporation – insights into flow dynamics, heat transfer, and operation

27 November 2025, 10:00 - 11:30

How can heat transfer and separation efficiency in thin-film evaporators be specifically influenced? What role do flow dynamics, wetting, and wiper systems play in the operating behavior of thin-film evaporators? What thermal loads do the individual components in thin-film evaporators experience? These and other questions are the focus of the research project on “Recovery of valuable materials using thin-film evaporation,” which will be presented in this webinar.

The webinar will present calculation equations for the operation and design of thin-film evaporators as well as current results from an IGF-GVT research project that systematically investigated the relationships between evaporation and fluid dynamics in thin-film evaporators. In addition to experimental studies with different wiper systems (comb and roller wipers), high-speed recordings and simulation-based methods will also be presented.

Participants will receive practical tips on how to calculate and estimate thin-film evaporators more efficiently, especially for thermally sensitive material systems.

Participation is free of charge.
