Developmental, Personality and Forensic Psychology

Division of Developmental, Personality and Forensic Psychology

The division was established in April 2009. We investigate the influence of emotions and emotion regulation for the development of moral, social and antisocial behavior over the life span. We are interested in the causal connections and the sustaining conditions of delinquency and criminal careers as well as the effects of preventive, therapeutic and judicial measures on delinquent behavior.

One focus of our work is on penal research and the treatment of offenders in both prison, forensic psychiatry and outpatient care. For this purpose, we cooperate with facilities of the penal system or forensic institutions. Our findings should be used for targeted development support and the (further) development and evaluation of prevention and treatment measures for children, adolescents as well as adults.
