The Virtual Homologation Research Center develops methods, frameworks, and digital workflows for the (continuous) virtual approval of modern vehicle functions. The focus is on simulation-based verification, traceable validation processes, and the integration of technical, legal, and societal requirements.
We strive for:
Virtual homologation supplements and minimizes physical approval processes and tests through simulation methods. The goal is to evaluate vehicle functions early on in a reproducible and traceable manner, thereby accelerating development and approval processes. Our research center takes a holistic approach by bringing together the necessary disciplines - engineering, law, and society. From a technical perspective, we address topics such as scenario generation and management, digital twins, model and data management, automated verification and validation processes, and the structured creation of virtual safety demonstrations. This is accompanied by legal regulations such as UNECE, EU Regulation 1426, and standards such as ISO 26262 and ISO 21448, coupled with the social and societal challenges of acceptance, ethics, trust, and safety.
