Bio

Inken Knop is a senior scientist at the Institute of Fluid Mechanics, where her research focuses on experimental icing research, the characterization of droplet clouds, and the development and validation of measurement techniques and numerical methods for investigating icing processes.

After completing her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and her master’s degree in renewable energy at the Technische Universität Hamburg (TUHH), she moved to the Technische Universität Braunschweig. There, she began her research career by studying icing on wind turbines. She has worked on national and international research projects focused on the experimental and numerical investigation of icing processes on aircraft. Her research topics include, among others, the characterization of supercooled large droplet (SLD) conditions, the photogrammetric measurement of ice accretion, and the validation of numerical icing simulations.
