Contents:

• introduction to molecular electronics
• main mechanisms and systems of molecular electronics
• basic elements (molecular orbitals, conjugated systems, wires, insulators, diodes)
• transport mechanisms (transmission, coupling of contacts, discrete level model, rectification)
• experimental test sytems (scanning probe, nanogaps, break junctions, monolayer junctions, nanowire concepts)
• devices (bi-stable switch, simple logical gates)
• biomolecular electronics (charge transfer in DNA and metaloproteins)
• organic thin-film field-effect transistors
