Neighborhood visit

On 5 April, Year 11 pupils from Ricarda-Huch-Schule visited the Physics Center to get an introduction to applied geophysics and a taste of university life. During a return visit by the Urban Geophysics working group to the school grounds on April 12, interested pupils were able to experience for themselves how geoelectrics, electromagnetics and georadar work in practice. As a team, IGEP and RHS were not only able to use the geophysical measurements to gain an overview of the underground conditions beneath the schoolyard, but also successfully tracked down a previously buried metal hammer in the beach volleyball court with the help of the georadar.
