Asteroid named after Karl-Heinz Glaßmeier!

The International Astronomical Union has decided to rename the asteroid *2000 GQ141* to *27506 Glassmeier*.

In the justification it says:
"Karl-Heinz Glassmeier (b. 1954) is an expert in magnetospheric and plasma physics and Lead Investigator of magnetometers on numerous planetary space missions. He found comet 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko to be emitting a 'song' in the form of oscillations in the magnetic field. "

The asteroid has a diameter of almost 6 km, an absolute brightness of 15.24 and is currently at a distance of approx. 350 million km from Earth. With this, "Carolowilhelmina", since August 2020, so to speak, the "house asteroid" of the TU Braunschweig, has now received a prominent companion. We warmly congratulate Karl-Heinz Glaßmeier and we are pleased with him that his work at our institute is greatly appreciated.
