For the Institute of Joining and Welding Technology we are looking for two

Research assistants (post-doctoral researcher, m/f/d) on the topic of the use of AI-supported assistants in die-casting

(full-time/part-time - temporary)

The positions are to be filled initially on a fixed-term basis for an expected 2 years. They are intended to serve the qualification of young scientists and offer the opportunity for doctoral studies/scientific further qualification.

In the department of light metal die casting of the Institute of Joining and Welding Technology (ifs) of the TU Braunschweig, aluminum die casting is continuously developed. For this purpose, the ifs operates its own die casting facility in the Light Metal Center Soltau in the heart of the Lüneburger Heide where the main work also takes place.

Shape with us:

  • You will conduct research on the topic of resilient automotive foundries through the use of AI-supported assistants for sustainable processes
  • You plan and carry out casting tests (die casting) in the Soltau light metal center
  • You develop advanced sensor technology for die casting
  • You develop AI assistance systems for process optimization in die casting and integration into a CORE platform
  • You accompany investigations at the participating project partners
  • You apply for and process research projects
  • You publish research results and participate in national and international conferences
  • You support university teaching (preparation and implementation of courses as well as supervision of student work).

Your Basics:

  • You have a completed scientific university education (Master's degree or equivalent) in mechanical engineering (or comparable) with a focus on manufacturing technology or AI systems
  • You have very good knowledge of the German and English language
  • You are flexible, able to work under pressure and work well in a team
  • You are aiming for a doctorate.

Our benefits:
