Interdisziplinärer Workshop bringt Forschende der TU Braunschweig zusammen

Aus dem Notizblog der TU Braunschweig vom 26. Oktober 2023:

Summer School in Tampere: Towards a joint simulation platform

Summer School at Tampere University.

How does the fracture behaviour of eco-concrete differ from that of conventional concrete? This is the subject of a joint project between TU Braunschweig and Tampere University. As part of the project, researchers of the Institute of Applied Mechanics at TU Braunschweig and the DFG Research Training Group 2075 “Modelling the constitutional evolution of building materials and structures with respect to aging” have organised a summer school at Tampere University, strategic partner of TU Braunschweig since 2017, from 8 to 10 August 2023. Dr. Fredrik Ekre, Dr. Knut Andreas Meyer and David Rollin gave 25 participants from Tampere and all over Finland an insight into the programming language Julia and the finite element simulation toolbox Ferrite.jl, which is co-hosted at TU Braunschweig.

The idea for this Summer School originated from the project MECOFRAC (Modeling of ECO-concrete FRACture), which is jointly funded by TU Braunschweig and Tampere University with seed funding in the Core Research Area “Future City”. The project is coordinated by Prof. Reijo Kouhia, Department of Civil Engineering (Tampere University) and Prof. Ralf Jänicke, Institute of Applied Mechanics (TU Braunschweig). The aim of the project is to develop a joint simulation platform in Ferrite.jl to study the fracture behavior of eco-concrete with low carbon footprint compared to conventional concrete. The project will be continued with a return visit of the Finnish project partners in December, so that Braunschweig can show its (most beautiful) Christmas market side.

If you are interested in Ferrite.jl beyond this project, the Ferrite.jl User & Developer Conference 2023 will take place on October 6, 2023 at the Ruhr Universität Bochum.
