University and programme

Vilnius is the capital of Lithuania. With about 574,000 inhabitants, it is located in the southeast of the country; about 40 km from the Belarusian border. The VGTU was founded in 1956 and since then has offered international study programmes with more than 400 partner universities abroad.

Together with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TU Braunschweig, a double degree programme in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Mechatronics is offered since 2016 by Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.

Double degree: Lithuanian and German Master of Science

 

Requirements:

Completed Bachelor's degree

English language certificate

 

Duration of stay: 2 semesters

 

Start of the stay: 1st master semester

 

You will study the first year of your Master's programme at the VGTU. In the second year you will return to TU Braunschweig and write your Master's thesis here. At both universities you will receive 60 CP each, which will be recognized by both universities. The curriculum for this programme is currently still largely predetermined.


Application

Application time: In the last semester of your Bachelor's programme

Application dates: 1st June for the following winter semester or academic year or 1st December for the following summer semester

Application procedure: 

  1. Contact the program coordinator
  2. The application will be handled via Erasmus+ online application by the International Office of TU Braunschweig
    Fill in the fields as follows:  Exchange programs: Dual Degree and Field of Study: Master and specialization at the VGTU
  3. Submission of documents in triplicate (application dossier)
  4. The application dossier is forwarded to the program officers.
  5. Students are selected after the dossier has been reviewed by a jury consisting of members of both universities; 20-minute interviews are conducted.

  • Certificate of the general university entrance qualification
  • Grade sheet in German and English or your Bachelor's certificate
  • Letter of motivation written in English
  • CV written in English
  • Certificate of English language skills
  • Equivalence form for the knowledge requirements at TU Braunschweig
