An overview of the test equipment used at the institute for AC, lightning pulse, DC voltage & diagnostics.

 

Test equipment Features
Lightning impulse voltage up to 400 kV / 50 kJ, on request up to 2 MV
AC voltage up to 400 kV / 400 kVA, on request up to 800 kV continuous load 12 -stage from 750 V / 522 A to 62.5 V / 6.3 kA
DC voltage up to 200 kV / 0.05 A, on request up to 800 kV
Surge current - 0,5 until 25 kA surge current 8/20; max 5 kA surge current 2/50 - combination wave up to 2*10 kV up to 1,2/50 µs and 2*10 kA up to 8/20 µs (1500J)
Synthetic switch-off tests - 50 Hz current up to 60 kA rms on request transient voltages up to 100 kV
Direct current max. DC voltage 560 VDC, currents up to 5 kA, short time 1 MVA
Insulating material diagnostics - TE- measurement - εr- and tanδ- measurement - tracking resistance (IEC 587) - DSC- analysis (25° -350°c), glass transition, thermal analysis - parallel test equipment for electrical material tests - climatic chamber (-40°C ... +180°C) - artificially accelerated aging tests - dynamic drop test - included plane test - hydrophobic transfer behaviour
Vacuum test vessels (10-4 Pa) and pressure test vessel (1 MPa) - 400 kV AC voltage - 1 MV surge voltage

Surface scanning 3D - area size (x*y) up to 100mmx100mm - z-resolution from 0,02μm up to maximum height 600μm - z-resolution from 0,1μm up to maximum height 3mm - roughness tests
Optical high-speed recording - monochrome 12 bit video camera - frame rates up to 800.000 frames/sec - recording of discharges, movements, etc.
