DC Systems and Switchgear

The team DC Systems and Switchgear researches holistic approaches and methods for the design and protection of energy systems, especially DC systems. Here it is taken into account that various actors such as research institutions, network operators and generation plant operators place demands on the transformation of the energy networks. Therefore, the focus of the DC systems and switchgear team is on the further development and implementation of a novel cooperative approach for the design and protection of energy systems. The diverse competencies of the DC systems and switchgear team enable the processing of current research questions from system design and system evaluation of network topologies to the development and investigation of a protection system to the investigation of the switching gas in the protective device. This extensive specialist knowledge, bundled in a team, enables easier communication between all those involved in the transformation of the energy networks and thus increases the quality of the solution design.
