Technology-Oriented Management (Master)

The degree programme is divided into three areas: management, interface management/technology and technology management. The three areas comprise an orientation phase and a specialisation or implementation and focus phase.

Management

In the area of management, you will gain a comprehensive insight into selected areas of economics. In addition to gaining an insight into four areas, two are particularly studied in more detail. You can choose from production & logistics, controlling, marketing, organisation & human resources and service management, among others.

Management/technology interface

In courses from the interface of management/technology, you will develop skills for management tasks. After you have learnt about selected methods (e.g. entrepreneurship, innovations, human resources, strategic technology management), you will apply them in research seminars or practical projects.

Technology management

In courses from the area of technology management, you will look at economic aspects from a technological point of view. In addition to introductory courses purely on technological aspects, you can attend special modules on technology relating to economics. In particular, you will deal with the topics of construction management, transport management, energy management, production management and information management.

Master’s thesis

You complete your studies with a six-month Master’s thesis. This involves applying the methods and knowledge of the subject independently. You have the opportunity to write your thesis within the University’s own research facilities or in cooperating companies, so that you already come into contact with potential employers during your studies.

The rapid changes in corporate structures, markets and society demand an increasingly strong understanding of economic contexts and methods.

This means that, especially for industrial and service companies in the technology sector, there is a need for experts who combine basic knowledge from technological subjects with a comprehensive technological understanding (e.g. possibilities and limits of technological developments) as well as with far-reaching decision-making competencies in the field of management.
