Psychology with a main focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy (Master)

The Master’s programme consists of four semesters. In the first two semesters, the basics of psychology, research methodology and diagnostics are studied in more detail. This is supplemented in the first three semesters by various applied courses in the area of psychotherapy. Practical relevance is achieved by a research-oriented practical course and two courses simulating professional practice. The fourth semester allows for further academic qualification by writing a Master’s thesis.

Research projects are carried out in international teams and specialised literature is written in English. It is therefore important that you take advantage of your studies to gain experience abroad and to professionalise your foreign language skills.

After successfully completing your studies and passing the Approbation examination, you will be authorised to work as a psychotherapist. This entitles you to provide curative treatment for people with psychological, psychosocial and psychosomatic conditions.

Possible places of work include numerous psychotherapeutic, psychiatric or psychosomatic care facilities such as psychotherapeutic practices, psychiatric clinics or rehabilitation centres.

Your Approbation (licence to practise) as a psychotherapist also entitles you to take part in further training to acquire the specialist certificate, which also qualifies you to set up your own psychotherapeutic practice.
