The TU Braunschweig mourns the passing of Henning Hopf, who died on March 12, 2026, at the age of 85.

Henning Hopf served as the managing director of the Institute of Organic Chemistry from 1978 to 2006.  He researched the structure and reactivity of complex hydrocarbon compounds, the core of organic chemistry. His contributions to the chemistry of cyclophanes are groundbreaking. His lifelong dedication to chemistry and society is highly regarded.

We bid farewell to an internationally renowned scientist and university professor, whom we will honor with fond memories.
