As part of the Braunschweig LabFactories for Batteries and More association, research activities focus on battery manufacturing technology and related technologies. Innovation and cutting-edge research are at the core of our passion for shaping the future of battery and hydrogen technology. The primary goal is to develop sustainable energy storage and conversion systems through a circular economy approach that combines production and recycling.
The BLB+ research association covers the entire value chain of battery manufacturing. The team of researchers is dedicated to developing better, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable processes for the production of batteries, fuel cells, and electrolyzers. The mission is to enhance the performance and lifespan of these electrochemical energy storage and conversion systems through the use of innovative production methods, materials, and technologies.
The BLB+ research focuses on improving production techniques for lithium-ion batteries, solid-state batteries, fuel cells, and other energy storage systems. Innovations in materials, production processes, diagnostics, and digitalization are employed to enhance the performance and reliability of energy systems. Close collaboration with industry is maintained to quickly and efficiently translate research results into market-ready products and processes.
Sustainable production of these technologies is crucial to creating a cleaner and more stable future. To achieve this, a key research focus is on the recycling and circular production of energy storage devices and converters. Innovative processes are being developed to recover valuable materials from batteries, fuel cells, and electrolyzers in order to conserve resources and minimize waste. BLB+ research also aims to extend the life cycle of energy storage devices and converters through the reuse and recycling of energy systems and their materials.
