Initial Situation and Problem

The federal government has the objective to bring one million electric vehicles onto German roads by 2020 and thereby to make transport more sustainable. The ongoing expansion of electromobility in Germany requires a promptly in-service training and further education for academics. Thus there is no market for electromobility yet, education in Germany as well as on international ground is facing a great challenge. Therefore a holistic approach involving all core competences is necessary. Until now this approach is missing on the field of in-service training and further education. To create and develop the holistic approach research efforts as well as interdisciplinary work is required.

Objective and Approach

At universities of the “Schaufenster - eMobilität Metropolregion Niedersachsen” an inter-university as well as modular in-service training and further education offer in the area of electromobility will be created. The education modules convey the current state of science in seminars. On a virtual teaching platform modeling and simulation tools are applied to give the participants an understanding of the topic design and control mechanisms for mobility services. The Mobility Business Lab offers its target groups practical contact with the area of electromobility. By experiencing the contents the cooperative project “Education-offensive eMobility” qualifies academics in the field of electromobility.
