Starting from 01.11.2025, the Institute for Mathematical Stochastics is looking for a

Postdoc (m/f/d) in the field of applied probability
(EG 13 TV-L/full-time 100%)

The position is to be filled on a fixed-term basis for an initial period of two years. The successful applicant will be given the opportunity for further scientific qualification. The duties of the position holder include qualified independent scientific work in a modern field of applied stochastics, for example in statistical physics, interacting particle systems, stochastic geometry, or random graphs. Appropriate participation in teaching and examination tasks of the institute is expected.

Your tasks

  • You will carry out research within our group in the area of applied probability theory.

  • You will apply for and work on research projects.

  • You will publish research findings and present your work in national and international conferences also extending your scientific network.

  • You will be involved in teaching at the University, for example in the preparation and implementation of courses as well as supervision of students’ work.

Your Qualifications

  • You have a PhD in mathematics.

  • You have very good knowledge of the German and English language.

  • You have teaching experience in the field of probability.

  • You are flexible, can perform under pressure and work well in a team.
