The focus is on topics related to responsible and safe research, including, for example, the Nagoya Protocol, security-related research, dual-use issues, and international research collaborations. These offerings provide information on current developments, impart practical knowledge, and help researchers identify relevant requirements and potential risks early on and incorporate them into their research projects.

Do you work with non-human genetic material from countries outside Germany and are unsure how to apply the Nagoya Protocol?

In this workshop, you will receive an update on the new TU BS-Nagoya compliance guidelines.

The event "Responsible Research - Balancing Research Freedom and Legal Frameworks" aims to raise awareness among all researchers about ethical aspects such as safety-related international frameworks governing their work while also presenting the support services and structures available at our university in this context.

Responsible Research is not a separate add-on, but an integral part of every research project. By outlining clear guidelines and support services, we ensure that ethical and legal standards can be integrated into the research process from the very beginning, rather than added as an afterthought.

An interdisciplinary panel discussion will take place, featuring professors from various departments. Practical examples will be used to demonstrate how the balance between academic freedom and legal requirements can be maintained without hindering innovation. At a booth run by the Responsible Research Support team of the Research Services, your current questions regarding the ethical and legal aspects of your research activities, as well as the procedures for submitting ethics applications for ethical review and support at TU Braunschweig, will be answered.
