Full house at BRICS: DFG Programme Director Dr Andreas Strecker provides insights into successful funding applications

How can you ensure your DFG application is successful? These and other questions were the focus of the presentation by Dr Andreas Strecker, Programme Director of the German Research Foundation for Life Sciences.

The BRICS seminar room was filled to capacity: Dr Andreas Strecker, DFG Programme Director for Life Sciences 2: Microbiology, Immunology and Neuroscience, was a guest at TU BS and its Ecoversity partner Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research. In his lecture ‘Writing a DFG proposal: programmes and advice to foster your career’, he provided valuable insights into the world of the German Research Foundation: about the structure and mission of the DFG, the numerous funding programmes, and the dos and don'ts of applying for funding. After the lecture, which he gave at the invitation of Prof. Dr. Melanie Brinkmann, Strecker engaged in a lively discussion with the audience. Afterwards, there was an opportunity to have individual consultations with him – a chance that our young scientists, such as Professor Thomas Naake (PTB/TU Braunschweig) pictured here, gratefully seized.
