Lea Smidt completed her B.Sc. in Psychology and a B.A. in Philosophy of Economics and Social Sciences at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. While her psychology bachelor thesis was about the relationship between humor and sexism, her philosophy bachelor thesis was about the ethical obligations of individuals in mitigating the climate crisis. She then completed her M.Sc. in applied social psychology in 2022, also at the Rijksuniversiteit. Her master's thesis was based on the topic of ambivalence and its reduction.
Lea has also gained practical experience in various fields, including a traineeship in science communication at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission in Ispra, Italy. She also worked as a tutor in academic skills and research methods during her studies.
