NTP

An NTP (Network Time Protocol) server is a server that distributes accurate time to other devices and computers on the network. The Network Time Protocol (NTP) is a protocol designed to provide a synchronized time reference over the Internet or local networks. The main role of an NTP server is to provide time information that can be used by other devices on the network to synchronize their clocks. This is important to ensure that different devices on the network use a consistent time. Accurate time is critical in many application areas, such as performing transactions, logging events, or coordinating systems in distributed environments. As a DP coordinator, you are sometimes faced with the task of reconciling the system time of different computers. The Gauß-IT-Zentrum operates some time servers for internal use. The servers are only accessible within the network of the TU Braunschweig.
