New FTIR Spectrometer at the ISBS Laboratory

Since Juni 2025 we have an FTIR for chemical analyses and research purposes.

We are pleased to announce that our laboratory is now equipped with the Lyza 7000 FTIR spectrometer (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) from Anton Paar. FTIR spectroscopy provides fast and accurate analysis of chemical functional groups in asphalt binders. By applying the ATR (Attenuated Total Reflection) technique, the Lyza 7000 enables us to distinguish chemical compounds, identify additives such as polymers or waxes, and monitor the chemical aging of the binders. This will allow us to obtain detailed information about changes in chemical composition and functional groups during binder aging.

The Lyza 7000 combines a compact design with an interactive touchscreen, making it easy and efficient to use with minimal sample preparation. Its robustness and versatility make it a powerful tool for both research and educational applications.
