During the ISPACAD2026 – International Symposium on Pavements for Carbon Neutral and Digitalized Roads (17-18.02.2026) held at the University of Granada in Spain, the first keynote lecture was presented by Prof. Wistuba with the title “Emerging Horizons: Transforming Asphalt Technology“. In this presentation, Prof. Wistuba showcased concerns about the carbon footprint of the asphalt pavement industry and the future goals in its reduction, advances in material characterization as well as developments of research already developed at ISBS regarding these topics. Some indicators on the relevance of the lecture’s subject were comments referring to Prof. Wistuba’s keynote speech during discussions in later sessions of the conference. Among other topics presented on ISPACAD2026, digitalization, and material’s development were widely discussed including on the CIRCOPAV EU Project showcase on 18.02.2026, in which ISBS is also part with the I_AM_PAVE and SpongePave projects.
