Theses and Student Research Projects

The Institute of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (IGG) offers the opportunity to write Master's and Bachelor's theses as well as student research projects on numerous topics from the various research and work areas. Initial information on the opportunities currently available can be obtained from Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Marius Milatz. You are also welcome to contribute your own ideas.

The Institute also expressly supports cooperation with external partners from the construction industry in the context of student projects. There is also the possibility of working abroad. If necessary, the Institute of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering can also establish initial contact with companies.

Subject areas

• Imaging methods in geomechanics (e.g. CT, PIV)
• Experimental work in the field of foundation of offshore wind turbines
• Numerical analysis of geotechnical and geomechanical problems (DEM, FEM)
• Conducting and evaluating tests in the soil mechanical laboratory
• Student projects in cooperation with companies (e.g. Menard GmbH, BGE mbH,...)
