New publication on the fatigue behaviour of self-tapping wood screws

 

A new paper on the results of cyclic pull-out tests on self-tapping timber screws has been published in the *European Journal of Wood and Wood Products*. The tests were carried out as part of the research project ‘Investigation of the fatigue behaviour of self-tapping screws used to connect steel sheets to cross-laminated timber components’.  The study evaluated extensive pull-out tests under static and cyclic loading to investigate the long-term load-bearing capacity of various screw types and to provide recommendations for the design of screw connections under fatigue loads.

The results provide important insights into the design of timber joints subjected to repeated loading and contribute to the further development of safe and cost-effective timber structures.
