Field trip: "Hands-on Cultural Heritage“ Quedlinburg, 2026

During the field trip week from 25 to 30 May 2026, students specialising in civil engineering, environmental engineering, architecture and industrial engineering (construction) were given the opportunity to gain fascinating insights into the restoration of historic half-timbered structures. In collaboration with Deutschen Fachwerkzentrum Quedlinburg, the Institute of Building Construction and Timber Structures (IBHolz) offered students the opportunity to try out traditional craft techniques used by joiners, carpenters and bricklayers in a practical setting. In doing so, they were able to make a tangible contribution to the restoration of important buildings in the town of Quedlinburg. They also visited historic buildings in the UNESCO World Heritage town of Quedlinburg, including the Marktkirche St. Benediktii, as well as Stolberg Castle in the Harz Mountains.
