Field Exercise 2026 in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania – Experimental Boundary Layer Meteorology

[Abteilung Klimatologie]

The field exercise for the ‘Experimental Boundary Layer Meteorology II’ module on the Environmental Meteorology degree programme took place between 17 and 21 August 2026. The regional Earth System Observatory TERENO-Nordost in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was used as the site for the various measurements, including drone flights to measure meteorological vertical profiles and chamber measurements to determine the surface-atmosphere exchange of CO₂. The fieldwork was complemented by theoretical sessions in the ‘lecture theatre’. The course was led by the Climatology and Environmental Meteorology (Stephan Weber) and Land–Atmosphere Interactions (Torsten Sachs) research groups from the Institute of Geoecology, as well as the Institute of Flight Control (Astrid Lampert, Andreas Schlerf).
