Eddy covariance measurements on an extensive green roof: new site underway!

[Institut für Geoökologie, Abteilung Klimatologie]

After successfully conducting eddy covariance measurements on an extensive green roof in Berlin for several years, we are happy to expand our research to a second location. Since a few weeks we have been measuring on Bavaria's largest extensive green roof: the logistics hall at the ICO in Obernburg/Main offers an area of 70,000 m² of extensive green roof, which is perfectly suited for our micrometeorological measurements. For the coming months, we will investigate the surface energy balance of the roof as well as the CO2 exchange between the green roof and the atmosphere. We thank the operator (Mainsite) as well as the owner of the property (LIP Invest) for allowing us to carry out our measurement programme and are looking forward to the results.
