Ms. Meyer is currently completing her advanced internship at Osbecksgymnasiet in Laholm (Sweden) and reports:
The internship abroad here at Osbecksgymnasiet in Laholm, Sweden, has so much to offer. It’s been an incredibly exciting and wonderful time that I’ve been able to experience here so far. Before the first week, I was very nervous and worried that spending time here in Sweden on my own would be strange and might not even live up to my expectations. But right from the first day, all the teachers and students were very kind and open-minded toward me, so I immediately felt very comfortable and knew that this was going to be an incredibly great time. Now the time has flown by so quickly, and the third week is coming to an end. In these three weeks, I’ve already learned a great deal and have risen to the occasion in many situations, even outside of school. The Swedish school system differs significantly from ours in Germany, both in terms of how teachers teach and in the student-teacher relationship. Sweden is generally much more student-centered, and both colleagues and students are more relaxed here, which creates a pleasant working atmosphere. The school doesn’t have traditional breaks like we have in Germany; instead, almost every student has their own schedule and therefore different break times than other students. In addition, they can decide whether they want to take more math or perhaps more English. This allows students to be supported more individually in their strengths and, if they choose to pursue higher education, they are better prepared.
Shortly before her internship at our partner school, the German-American School Manhattan, Ms. Wiegmann visited Faculty 6 and the Institute of Education again.
In addition to a productive exchange about the internship, the desired learning opportunities, and her experiences in the process so far, any remaining questions were clarified.
At the end, she was bid farewell by Prof. Dr. Koch and Mr. Fehrentz.
We wish her lots of fun and a great experience at GSM!
We would also like to thank the entire GSM team for their excellent cooperation.
On December 1, the first networking meeting of the DAAD-Lehramt.International projects, which are being carried out at various universities in Lower Saxony, took place in Hanover. The meeting focused on the exchange of projects, ideas, and experiences. With many new impulses and joint ideas, we would like to further promote and strengthen the internationalization of teacher training!
