As part of the exchange programme or double degree with the University of Rhode Island (USA), Master's students at TU Braunschweig have the opportunity to acquire a Master of Science (M.S.) or Master of Business Administration (MBA) in the USA in addition to their German Master's degree. This Master's programme lasts three US semesters/terms (12 months in total).
University and programme
The University of Rhode Island is located in the USA near Kingston, about 180 miles from New York. URI was founded in 1888, has around 17,000 students and is the leading university in the US state of Rhode Island. In 1995, URI and TU BS signed an agreement on academic co-operation. Since 1997, URI and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at TU BS have offered a double degree programme, primarily in mechanical engineering, bioengineering, chemical engineering and industrial engineering.
The programme thrives on mutual student exchange. Students from URI come to Braunschweig through the International Engineering Programme (IEP) or the Dual Degree Programme (DD). Programme participants from TU BS who study abroad for a semester at URI cover the costs of the language courses in Braunschweig for these incoming students. In return, TU BS students are granted free places at URI, which means that their tuition fees are waived.
The programme is organised by the Institute of Energy and Systems Engineering under the direction of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Daniel Schröder.
