Subproject B3

The objective of the subproject is the development of the basic principles for the design and the realization of a continuous contour variable leading edge device for the enhancement of the efficiency of active blowing at high-lift flaps. An essential aspect of the proposed research activities is the hybrid design of flexible skins, compliant mechanisms for the activation of the leading edge and an appropriate design of the connection of the compliant mechanism and the flexible skin. The analysis of the interaction of the involved components like skin and compliant mechanism, the optimization of the topology of the compliant mechanism as well as the analysis of the material degradation of such structures are key issues of the planned research activities in this subproject.
