Porous materials, intended for noise reduction, will be produced and characterized in this project. Hereby, the following aspects are of prime interest. Firstly, new porous materials, standing out by the fineness and directionality of their porosity, will be investigated and designed for optimal acoustic and mechanical functionality. Secondly, all porous materials, being investigated in this research programme, will be microstructurally characterized. Thirdly, their mechanical properties will be explored to guarantee an optimum in acoustic and mechanical functionality.
