The summer school on Film History offers an intensive programme built around two carefully selected themes in film history, combining around twenty rare archival screenings in optimal cinema conditions with expert-led lectures and in-depth seminars.
In 2027 the focus will be on “Hollywood’s ‘Other’ Stars: Difference and the Business of Stardom in Classical Hollywood Cinema”. The second programme strand will be announced in due time. Alongside close film analysis and scholarly discussion, participants are encouraged to connect theoretical debates with historical contexts. Discover more
The summer school is designed for Master students and PhD students in film and media studies or related disciplines, as well as for film professionals with a strong interest in film history.
Prerequisites: Participants should have a basic knowledge of film history and film theory (Bachelor level).
