What‘s your nicest memory of Braunschweig and do you have a favorite place?

I grew up in this region and have many fond memories of Braunschweig. One of my fondest will always be the time I spent working on my dissertation, during which I also taught and had a smooth faculty assignment. I don’t have just ONE favorite place; for me, it’s the people around me who make moments special.

Reasons why the TU Braunschweig is a great place to study:

A centrally located campus near downtown.

Describe the time of your studies in 3 words:

  • challenging
  • work-intensive
  • enlightening

Which contents of your studies can you still use in your career today?

Above all, my studies have taught me how to quickly familiarize myself with new and complex topics and communicate them in a way that is tailored to the target audience.

Are you still in touch with former fellow students? Do you see each other and if so, how often?

I’m in sporadic contact with my former colleagues at the Institute of Finance, including someone who studied with me. However, we don’t meet regularly.

What advice would you give current students for their personal career planning?

  1. Enjoy your studies, and feel free to extend your program by a semester so you can fully experience student life—you’ll have plenty of time to work later.
  2. Internships during your studies are highly recommended for gaining professional experience and figuring out where you see yourself.
  3. Choose a degree program and career field that reflects your interests, not “what’s currently in high demand,” because the latter changes, and suddenly there are people in that field a dime a dozen—and in the worst-case scenario, you won’t even enjoy it.

In one sentence - In the future I wish the TU Braunschweig:

Refurbishment measures
