What‘s your nicest memory of Braunschweig and do you have a favorite place?

When I moved to Braunschweig from Hanover in the early 2000s, the city struck me as dull and somehow out of step with the times. Now, in 2025, I have been a resident of Braunschweig longer than I ever was of Hanover, and I have grown to love the city and its people. In Braunschweig, you feel like you know “your” city. It is just the right size.

Reasons why the TU Braunschweig is a great place to study:

A very good, large university with a wealth of history! Good infrastructure and (still) a lively city center.

Describe the time of your studies in 3 words:

  • challenging,
  • shaping, but
  • (absolutely) manageable (once you've learned how to learn).

Which contents of your studies can you still use in your career today?

Actually, that's mostly the business administration parts of my degree. The computer science part was already pretty much obsolete by the time I finished my studies.

Are you still in touch with former fellow students? Do you see each other and if so, how often?

Yes, once a year for Christmas.

What advice would you give current students for their personal career planning?

Difficult (as of 2025)... Quality always prevails. Those who enjoy their job will (a) find a job and (b) also have a career in it. Important: You shouldn't do a job you don't want to do too well. ;-)

In one sentence - In the future I wish the TU Braunschweig:

... that it holds its own in (inter)national competition in order to attract bright minds to our region for our regional economy!
