About the Department Budget Law and Financial Services

The Department of Budget Law and Financial Services is responsible for the central management of all third-party and special funds for all facilities/academic units of TU Braunschweig. It provides information about the general rules of LHO (advance performance, emergency funding, profitability, risks, insurance cover etc.). All questions about the authority to approve financial transactions, financial controlling tools (SAP), advice and support for facilities/academic units on the management of funds, particularly third-party and special funds (incl. preparing the necessary proofs of expenditure) should be addressed to this department.

Its responsibilities also include contract research incl. separate accounts, the sale of assets, vehicle-related issues, preparation of applications to the Presidency, MWK decrees for special funds, rules for and monitoring of third-party funds, and announcements of third-party funded research projects. Moreover, the department approves and sets up receipts offices for receiving income and advance cash payments, receipts for financial and in-kind donations from third parties, funding from Federal sources or the German Research Foundation, and other funding by other third parties. Department 21 can help with questions concerning the forming, transfer and release of balances carried forward; funding for external facilities; master data maintenance; credit card applications; transfers and settlements. It also runs the payment office. Additional duties are the central management of government funds for educational quality (Studienqualitätsmittel, SQM) and acting as an interface between the Executive Office and the facilities/academic units for issues concerning the management and use of SQM funds.
