The TUmorrow Awards have been recognizing projects and initiatives by students and staff at TU Braunschweig since 2023, honoring those that make a special contribution to sustainable development. An overview of past prize winners provides insight into the diversity and impact of the awarded contributions.
The award in the category of Outstanding Thesis recognizes a bachelor’s, master’s, or final-year thesis that has addressed a topic in sustainable development in a high-quality manner.
The award goes to Till Niemann, M. Sc. in Industrial Engineering/Mechanical Engineering, for his master’s thesis “Development of a Greenhouse Gas Balance for Technische Universität Braunschweig.”
Bachelor’s Thesis
The award goes to Kay-Laurens Niemeijer, B. Sc. in Industrial Engineering/Mechanical Engineering, for his bachelor’s thesis “Assessment of Climate-Related Transition Risks.”
Master’s Thesis
The award goes to Luisa Strzelczyk, M. Sc. in Environmental Engineering, for her master’s thesis “Expansion of a Wastewater Treatment Plant Considering Energy and Resource-Economic Aspects.”
Bachelor’s Thesis
In this category, Lukas Jungwirth from the Civil Engineering program won with his bachelor’s thesis “Development and Structural Calculation of a Modular and Parametric Design of Dry Separation Toilets in the Global South.”
Master’s Thesis
The award goes to Paul Knauer from the Architecture program for his master’s thesis “Over the Fence – The Single-Family Home and the Aging Generation.”
The award in the Outstanding Engagement category recognizes projects or initiatives that have emerged from the TU community and address topics related to sustainability or contribute to sustainable development.
The award goes to Mirja Meinecke, Lotta Klimmek, Burcu Altunok, Anne Scheler, Viona Greve, Nele Schnars, and all other members of the extended team for the organization and execution of the lecture series “System. Power. Injustice.”
The award goes to Dennis Ruth, Kai Purwig, Fabian Schwartau, Lukas Zilian, Clemens Nowitzki, Markus Windelen, and Nils Grehm for the project “Open Bike Sensor.”
The award goes to the Union of Muslim Students, who organized the intercultural iftar as part of Ramadan 2025.
The award in the Outstanding Course category recognizes a high-quality and innovative teaching concept that addresses a topic in sustainable development.
The award goes to Prof. Dr. Eckart Voigts, Prof. Dr. med. Bettina Wahrig, and Robin Auer for the seminar “Digital Hub: International Perspectives on Environmental Humanities.”
The award goes to Dr. Thorsten Schoormann and Prof. Dr. Frederik Möller for the course “Digital Business Models and Sustainability (DiGeNa).”
In this category, Prof. Dr. Christof Backhaus and Bettina Herz won with their course “Sustainability Transformation Management.”
