Invitation
Responsible Research - Balancing Academic Freedom and Legal Frameworks
Target Audience: Researchers at the Technical University of Braunschweig
Location: TUBS, Main Campus, Altgebäude, Pockelsstraße 4, Room PK 4.122, 38106 Braunschweig
When: Monday, October 26, 2026, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Organizer: Commission for Ethics in Security-Related Research (KEF)
The event "Responsible Research - Balancing Academic Freedom and Legal Frameworks" aims to raise awareness among all researchers about ethical issues such as international safety-related regulations governing their work while also presenting the support services and structures available at our university in this context.
Responsible Research is not a separate add-on, but an integral part of every scientific project. By establishing clear guidelines and support services, we ensure that ethical and legal standards are integrated into the research process from the very beginning, rather than being added later.
An interdisciplinary panel discussion will take place, featuring professors from various departments. Using real-world examples, the discussion will highlight how to strike a balance between academic freedom and legal requirements without hindering innovation. At a booth run by the Responsible Research Support team of the Research Services department, you can get answers to your current questions about the ethical and legal aspects of your research activities, as well as the procedures for submitting ethics applications for ethical review and support at TU Braunschweig.
