Research Vision

The NFF has developed the vision of sustainable mobility from the existing social, ecological and economic requirements for the development of vehicle-related technologies and usage models. It is the logical continuation of the original vision of the Metropolitan Car. This is being developed in five scientific research

fields (Automated and connected driving, emission-free vehicle and drive systems/charging infrastructure, flexible vehicle concepts and vehicle production, transformation of mobility, digitalization and artificial intelligence) and is intended to sustainably ensure individual mobility needs in metropolitan areas.

Fields of research at the NFF

The NFF researches autonomous vehicles, automated driving functions and driver assistance systems that ensure individual mobility in the metropolitan areas of the 21st century. As a basis for system development, methods and tools are created to master the complexity of partially, highly and fully automated driving, taking into account the interaction of different road users.
