First semester students

As a student of the TU Braunschweig you will automatically receive a password-protected user ID, which we call y-number, as access to the examination administration and to our IT systems. The y-number is not your matriculation number, but is assigned to you additionally.

The IT services provided by the Gauß-IT-Zentrum include among others

• an e-mail account
• a cloud access on a central server
• the use of technical-scientific software
• the use of high-performance printers and plotters*
• teaching and learning material allowance for printing services
• high-performance WLAN in the CAMPUS area of the TU
• external access from home to the TU network via VPN
• access to the course catalog

*The use of the printing services is subject to a fee (cf. notes on printing costs).

The y-number with a temporary password will be sent to you by mail from the Study Service Center. If you do not receive the letter by the time you start your studies, the first point of contact is the Study Service Center.
