The BRICS Executive Board consists of elected BRICS members from Technische Universität Braunschweig and the non-university partner institutions Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI), Leibniz Institute DSMZ – German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures, and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB). Together with the BRICS members, the Board shapes the strategic direction of BRICS and advances its mission, “Systems Interactions in Biological Networks”.
“For me, BRICS represents a place where researchers from TU Braunschweig, HZI, DSMZ, and PTB work closely together—where complementary areas of expertise come together, benefit from one another, and create synergies to explore the interactions of biological systems and their complex networks.”
“For me, BRICS is a place where experimental, quantitative, and computational research come together to better understand biological systems. I find it particularly exciting that the new spaces and close collaboration across different disciplines allow us to develop new perspectives on health, metabolism, immunology, and complex interactions within biological networks.”
„Two of the key focus areas of TU Braunschweig are Engineering for Health and Metrology. The integration of Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt within the BRICS environment creates a unique opportunity to establish the metrological foundations of quantitative and engineering biology. This convergence of expertise provides an ideal collaborative setting to develop standards, measurement frameworks, and reference methods that can support the reliable and reproducible advancement of these emerging fields.“
“At BRICS, we view complex organisms holistically as being composed of interacting networks. We aim to use quantitative sciences to understand the interactions within these networks and how they affect the stability and health of the organism.”
“BRICS facilitates and strengthens interdisciplinary collaboration between the TU Braunschweig and non-university institutes in Braunschweig.”
