What‘s your nicest memory of Braunschweig and do you have a favorite place?

Some of my fondest memories include going for a run with friends in Riddagshausen, barbecues and dance parties in Gauß Park and Prinzen Park, the Christmas market all around the cathedral, concerts at the State Theater, and the cafés in the Magni district.

Reasons why the TU Braunschweig is a great place to study:

Fabulous lectures by renowned speakers and a diverse range of study and sports programs, brought to life by an enthusiastic student body. Oh, and the cafeteria had already blossomed in its day. It's not far from the lecture hall to the countryside, where wide open spaces and green areas give young families and ambitious amateur athletes plenty of room to run around. If you want to prepare for the winter season, you can take your board or skis from the library directly to the Harz Mountains. Or choose from a wide-ranging offer of cultural activities, from the state theater to all kinds of exhibitions and events, such as the light trail and open-air festivals, the city has a lot to offer young people. The broad range of topics and high level of technical depth of the lectures helped me a lot to find my personal professional interests and pursue a career that has made my life very fulfilling.

Describe the time of your studies in 3 words:

  • interdisciplinary
  • innovative
  • shaping

Which contents of your studies can you still use in your career today?

More or less all of them, except for Numerical Simulation...

Are you still in touch with former fellow students? Do you see each other and if so, how often?

Yes, I have deep friendships with some of my former fellow students and am connected with others on social media.

What advice would you give current students for their personal career planning?

  1. Gain practical experience. Internships and working student positions are more important than perfect grades.
  2. Grow and foster a network.
  3. Think outside the box. (Take advantage of electives, interdisciplinary projects, or a semester abroad.)

In one sentence - In the future I wish the TU Braunschweig:

The TU has steadily developed and improved greatly, with particular investment in the range of courses on offer. Keep at it - I wish I could study again...
