What‘s your nicest memory of Braunschweig and do you have a favorite place?

My fondest memories are of the close friendships I made during my studies. It started with occasional card games in front of the lab and grew stronger through many activities (geocaching, game nights, karaoke, etc.). One of my favorite places is the "Staatstheater", where we also liked to go (with discounted tickets).

Reasons why the TU Braunschweig is a great place to study:

The city is not dominated by students, but the university district has an inspiring, relaxed university atmosphere—we still live there today. I particularly appreciated the diverse range of courses offered by TU Braunschweig, such as medical lectures (with practical training) and numerous language courses, as well as the support for studying abroad for one or two semesters.

Describe the time of your studies in 3 words:

  • Together
  • Rewarding
  • Intensive

Which contents of your studies can you still use in your career today?

Above all, the ability to deal with complex topics in a structured and analytical manner, to think interdisciplinarily, and to work independently in a scientific context. The intensive teamwork (in the laboratory) shaped me just as much as my resilience, especially during my doctoral studies. Professionally, my solid foundation in chemistry helps me to communicate on an equal footing with colleagues/researchers from various chemical disciplines.

Are you still in touch with former fellow students? Do you see each other and if so, how often?

Yes, several times a week. We became close friends during our studies.

What advice would you give current students for their personal career planning?

  1. Keep at it —but take your time to learn as much as possible.
  2. Take advantage of interdisciplinary opportunities—they broaden your perspective, which is fun and helps you advance professionally.
  3. Build your network — friendships and relationships will accompany you far beyond your studies.

In one sentence - In the future I wish the TU Braunschweig:

...that it preserves its openness and support for interdisciplinary programs and study abroad opportunities—because it is precisely this diversity, coupled with a lively community spirit, that enriched my studies.
