» Joining the Technical University of Braunschweig as a Junior Professor was an easy decision for me. I felt like the people here believed in my abilities and were ready to support me despite my young age and the fact that I come from a foreign country. I was born and raised in Cyprus and attended the Cyprus University of Technology where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. After my undergraduate studies, I joined the University of Florida where I received a master's degree and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering. My first research experience in Germany was through a two-year Post-Doc at Zentrum für Molekulare Biologie der Universität Heidelberg. There I also had the opportunity to improve my German, which makes my life in Braunschweig easier! This summer semester I am holding a lecture in English titled 'Lasers in Science and Engineering'. I was happy to realise that there are many international students (but also German students) interested in participating in my lecture, which again speaks to the international spirit of the TU Braunschweig. «
