In order to be able to react to the new demands placed on manufacturing companies as described above and to the increased development and planning efforts resulting, companies must learn to work with the modern and innovative tools of the digital factory. For exactly this purpose, the IFU gives companies the opportunity to use its virtual factory planning laboratory. This includes a planning table for interactive and participatory layout planning, a virtual reality laboratory with 3-side stereo projection and various other software tools.
Via lectures and exercises or through direct application in industrial projects, students learn how to work with modern methods and tools in factory planning.
A special feature of the VR laboratory is the installation of a segmented oscillating floor. This technology permits to simulate the oscillations caused by equipment or machinery in the shop floor and thus to recognise any disturbing impact on people or
other equipment at an early stage.
