The ISK joint project is conducting research into active load reduction with predictive control. The aim is to develop integrated structural system technology approaches to reduce the loads on airfoils. Technologies are being researched that can achieve additional load reductions by influencing structural and flap deformations as well as through predictive flight control (for example, by including thrust as a control variable). This leads to lower energy requirements and thus to climate-friendly flight operations. A multidisciplinary design methodology enables optimization-based determination of the aircraft configuration and control parameters.
The project is being realized in a cooperative network between the Institute of Aircraft Design and Lightweight Structures (IFL) at TU Braunschweig and the Department of Control and Cyber-Physical Systems (CCPS) at TU Darmstadt.
