The EverScale project supplements the strongly numerically oriented studies in SE²A in the field of load reduction with sub-scale flight tests in order to experimentally verify and improve various load reduction systems. Models with passive and active load reduction technologies are derived from the full-scale concepts, built and tested in flight. The passive load reduction is based on flexible wings with non-linear behavior, the active load reduction is achieved by the feedback of distributed inertial sensors and the active control of distributed, reactive flaps, also in combination with the passive approach. The realistic operating conditions in flight are expected to provide valuable insights into the feasibility and limits of load reduction systems, so that improvements can be developed and quickly tested in order to draw conclusions for large-scale concepts.
